Summer fun

We have been having such a fun and busy summer.  Last week we spent three days in McCall with Charlie's side of the family, and then spent a day with my side of the family at Roaring Springs.  I've walked away from all of that with heat rash and a summer cold.  GRR.  I'm ready for fall weather.  Ha ha ha.  It's so funny because in the winter I love the weather all through Christmas, come mid January I  HATE it.  We are going stir crazy being cooped up in the house that I just want spring and warm weather.  Then comes summer and I'm ok with it until right about now (mid Julyish) when it's just too freaking hot to be outside for long periods of time.  I'm almost always hit with a bad case of heat rash every summer around this time too.  GRRR.  Come on cooler weather!!

So anyway, here is a quick recap of some of our Summer fun:

Lydia's brand new big girl bike. She was previously using a trike that she got for her birthday back in October (2013) and only got to use it a couple of times before the weather changed.  Then this summer she was just too big for it.  So we upgraded her.  She hasn't quite got the hang of pedaling it, but loves to try!

After dinner with my dad one night the kiddos were playing out side, before we knew it they had "fallen" into the pool and gotten soaked.  Natalia likes to pull that stunt often.  Later it became a water fight and poor Dexter wasn't too fond of it. So Derek went outside to rescue him and got soaked by the big kids.  He got even with the hose.   ;)

Spent a couple of hours with the cousins at Eagle Island.  It was super hot but lots of fun.
I got to take Lydia out on a Mommy/Daughter date.  Since she's still so young I didn't have a lot of ideas as to what to do with her so thought it would just be fun to take her on a bunch of errands I'd been putting off doing (loading and unloading 3 kids for small errands can be kind of daunting).  We also had lunch at McDonalds and went to Toys R Us to pick out a prize for filling up her puff ball jar.  (she tested out bikes there too)

Previously we had the two girls in the third row of the Pilot and Quinton in the second row.  But it was kind of a pain to climb into the car to help the girls load up all the time.  Lydia was still in her brown convertible car seat, so we upgraded her to a seat like Natalia's and they all three fit in the second row now!  When we upgrade Quinton to the brown car seat rear facing we might have to go back to the first seating arrangements, but maybe with it rear facing we can still fit... we shall see.  In the mean time, they love this and it's so helpful to have Natalia right there when Quinton is fussy and needs his binky or bottle.  And yes Lydia is wearing her bicycle helmet. She loves to wear it around...

The girls wanted to ride bikes, but it was HOT and Quinton was napping. So I got both cars out of the garage and they loved riding in circles in the garage.

Majestic does $1 Wednesdays so we decided to go with the cousins and give it a shot.  I figured $1 was worth testing to see if Lydia could sit still in a movie or not.  They all did so great!!  Lydia sat in her chair the whole time!  She was too light for it though so I had to put my diaper bag behind her to help weigh it down.  ;) Quinton slept in the Ergo almost the whole movie too which was awesome.
My mom is in town and she took the girls over night.  So Charlie, Quinton, and I had a date night.  We ran a few errands and got Cafe Rio for dinner.  We seriously LOVE that place.
As I've mentioned before the girls have puff ball jars for good behaviors.  The first set we had Natalia's was larger than Lydia's.  So I saved a couple of formula cans and we decorated them into new jars one morning.  Turned out super cute!
Fun times with Grandma Dinorah!  They had a Costco date (they love going to Costco with my mom, they get pizza for lunch and just love going!) And a snow cone date with her as well.  We've had a fun couple of weeks with her and I'm super sad she's leaving again on Friday.  =(

My mommy/daughter date with Natalia involved getting Pedicures and getting some frozen yogurt.  I'd been dying to take her to get a pedi, I really thought she would love it.  We went to a place close to home and they had cute butterfly chairs for her to sit in with a DVD player for her to watch a movie while I got mine done.  She LOVED every minute of it and loved her "Tiana" nails.  I got a sparkly blue and she said I had Cinderella toes.  Too bad mine came off in a matter of being in McCall for two days!  GRRR.  At least hers lasted and she was so happy with them.  She had also been asking to go get frozen yogurt so I thought this was our chance.  Up next a daddy/daughter date with Lydia!

So..I've just been doing a major catch up on your blog. I have a lot to say, but I'm on a time constraint (doc appointment in five minutes:) So I'll just say that right now I'm a little in awe of how much you manage to accomplish. Outings, fun things at home, etc...not only the three kids thing, but the baby thing. I have such a hard time with getting stuff done. How do you manage to spend time with your girls like you do and still care for Quinton? You make me hopeful that maybe I'll figure it out someday.
