She's walking, she's talking, she's just not a baby by any means.
At 18 Months:
She says Mommy now and I love it. It comes out more like "ommy" but still it's pretty awesome. The whole calling everything and everyone dada phase is over and now she calls us both mommy or mama and it's funny. Maybe not so much to Charlie. ;) She has managed to call him dada the last couple of days though, we'll see if it's catching on. She says Bibi for her binky. She quit saying Didee for Mickey but does say Meemee for Minnie.
She really seems to understand what we say and what we ask her. She can respond with a nod of yes or a shake of no to our questions, although she still doesn't say "no." Really that's ok, because when kids learn the word NO it's all they seem to say right? She'll even say "yeah" when you ask her something. Just now she came up to me and said "bibi" and pointed to her binky. I asked her if she wanted her binky and she said "yeah" pretty cute. I'm hoping to be rid of those here in the next couple of months though. EEK.
She's had two bouts of croup in the last 3 months which totally blew. Poor kiddo. Here's hoping with all this lovely spring weather we can finally be rid of those yucky germs. She's had four teeth cutting in the mean time. She would take her binky and rest it or chew it in that gap where the teeth were coming in. A few binkys have met the trash because she's chewed holes into them.
She walks and walks and walks. Constantly moving, and losing all of that baby fat darn it. Definite down fall of them becoming mobile is they lose that cute baby chub. Now that she is mobile she is definitely playing with the cousins more. It used to be that when we'd go to my Grandma Gladys' house she would stay with us adults in the dinning area while we ate and chatted. Now she follows Natalia straight back to the play room and loves to be around the other kiddos. Sometimes you'll see her in the corner doing her own thing too. Still little miss independent that one.
She adores Natalia and wants to play with her all the time. But if Natalia is doing something she doesn't like boy does she let us know. She will SCREECH until sister stops or we make sister stop. Sometime all Natalia wants to do is love on her sister but Lydia is not having it. ;)
Still adores her flimsy blankies and Mickey. Boy those things are huge comforts to her and she loves to carry them around. She also sleeps with about three of those blankets at night.
Loves the dress up area we set up in the play room. She will come get me and then take me back to it and point to a costume to wear. Usually the monkey or the giraffe costume. And boy is it ADORABLE.
She loves to put on shoes. She'll bring you any shoes (sometimes Natalia's) and want you to put them on her. Her favorite ones to wear are the Minnie slipper she got for Christmas.
Loves her swim class. She gets super jealous on Mondays while we have to stand and watch sister in her class. She'll point at the pool and constantly grunt. When we go on Tuesdays she just loves it. She does everything that we put her through and with a smile. Hardly ever cries. Her absolute favorite is her back floats. Seriously this kid would float the whole class and fall asleep if she was allowed. She is soooo relaxed during her back float and just lays there with only my finger tips on the back of her head. It's CRAZY.
Loves to play outside with Natalia and daddy. Loves to blow bubbles, thinks it's so funny. She will constantly point at the back door wanting to go out there.
She Loves to color and draw. At this age Natalia had to have us right there with her and would usually make us be the one to hold the crayon and color. Not Lydia. She is very content to sit there and color herself. She will carry around crayons if I let her. (she's drawn on the wall a couple of times so I have to take them away if she wonders from her little table).
Favorite foods are: pizza, grapes, chicken nuggets and fries, sliced ham, string cheese, and chips and guac. But she'll lick the guac off and then want you to get her more. She will not however eat avocados! Silly girl.
She loves drinking my soda. At meal times I've had to hide it before because she will want to drink it instead of eating her food. Not good. I pretty much hide any soda at all times of the day though because I'm afraid of the meltdown that could ensue.
She is such a fearless kiddo. She seriously loves slides and has no idea that she's supposed to be scared to go down the big ones. She's so little she will flop all over the place on them but she doesn't care. Don't worry it only happened once in Texas. we sent her down a slide that she wasn't ready for but she still had the biggest smile afterwards Thankfully Natalia helps me out now and will go down with her and hold tight so I can wait for them at the bottom.
Oh miss Lydia... please slow down a bit.
LOVE YOU TO THE MOON AND BACK!!!!!

They get big too quick! I am jealous at all the hair she has! Grace is getting more and more, but it's still short. I can barely get it into pig tails, and when I do she yanks it right out:) Grace says meme for Minnie too:) It must be difficult to say the n.
