It's another one of those sickly episodes going through the Hodges house hold. Natalia had it first and is now finally on the mend. I thought for sure Lydia had missed the boat on that one and then she woke up all snot nosed yesterday. As the day went on she got progressively worse. I was telling Charlie how I hate that she goes from fine to extremely sick in a matter of hours. Unlike Natalia or other kiddos it takes a couple of days. Not Lydia, and she can't just have a cold. It always has to turn into something worse. (Croup, Ear Infections, Pneumonia). By last night she could barely breath out of her nose, her eyes were all puffy and watery (she was exhausted from not napping) and her cough was starting to sound croupy. She had a fever of 101.4. Normally this would mean I sit in her rocker with her while she attempts some sleep. Now we have a guest room with a guest bed. So we moved the bed up against the wall and that's where Lydia and I attempted to sleep last night. Her temp rose to 102.1 and I was totally freaked out when I googled it, everything said it was time to take her to the ER. She was so miserable, she couldn't sleep, and she was just whimpering. I called the on call nurse at our pediatricians office and she said to hang tight and call the office in the morning. Ugh. Granted who wants to go to the ER in the middle of the night but I was worried. It finally started to drop a little around 1am and she was able to snooze here and there but only if she was actually laying on me. So I had this sweaty little person curled up on me and I couldn't sleep at all.
Anyway, I'm sooo exhausted. Natalia has been in quite the mood this morning, making my morning that much more awesome (sarcasm). All I want is a nap and then maybe a Starbucks... or maybe the other way around. Ha. I hate asking Charlie to keep using PTO for my own personal gain so here I am attempting to tough this out. Pretty sure in the next day or two I'll be the one all gross and sickly. Wouldn't it be so nice if us stay at home mama's could have a sick day? (without daddy having to stay home from work in order for me to get it either).
I was supposed to go get groceries today for Charlie's birthday Saturday and our Easter lunch on Sunday. I was supposed to get the house picked up so I could start the cleaning process. The kitchen is a disaster because we hosted dinner with my dad last night and I've yet to clean up that mess. I was supposed to put away laundry and finish the last couple of loads. Hmmmm... looks like that's not going to happen.
I thought for sure we were done with being sick!! The nice spring weather is finally coming our way, but oh no not my kids. My kids are sickness magnets. My friend Amy joked that she was going to buy them bubbles to live in. Seriously. That might not be a bad idea at this point.
