My little chubber monkey is 11 months old. How is this even possible?!?!?! I think I've been avoiding this post so much because I really really really don't want to face the reality that next month he turns one. UGH!
It's been a heck of a month though. I've decided to face the fact that he is indeed our last baby. (side note: as much as I would love another baby and to try to give him a little brother, I just don't think emotionally/mentally I could handle another baby. My brain says no, my heart says yes ha ha ha.) We had some struggles this month with daddy being gone (his favorite person in the whole word was gone for 6 days and it was really had on the poor little guy!) and with no sleep/croup/diet etc that I shed my fair share of tears and it kind of helped me figure it all out. So some of the baby stuff got sold and I was a bit sad.
So now we just enjoy our stage in life and enjoy the new stages to come right?
Can you believe how freaking adorable this little guy is?? Seriously.
While Charlie was gone for work he got super sick. We all had that crud going around, but he ended up with Croup.
I could tell it was coming on one afternoon and set up the appointment with the pediatrician the following morning because by then it was 4pm and I wasn't going to be able to get us down to the office to be seen. Thankfully he didn't do super horrible that night (it's been way worse with Lydia) but man oh man was it hard on us. At the same time he also decided to just stop eating all together. He was slowly making the transition from baby food to our food, but all the sudden even that didn't interest him. It was HARD! I knew he needed to eat, but I just didn't know what to do. Thankfully he was still taking his bottle though. Once he started to feel better he started eating again.
Now we are almost entirely on our food and hardly any baby food at all. I still have some left in the freezer though so I still try to get him to eat a little. He will take it if I put the cube in his mesh feeder, I think then it's more fun for him ha ha. All this new foods though are sometimes hard for his sensitive tummy so we aren't getting the best sleep at times. Some nights are great, some nights its back to every 2-3 hours. Last night we ordered pizza for Valentines, and he was loving the teeny bits I was giving him (no cheese or pepperoni just the breading part with a bit of sauce) I couldn't get it to him fast enough, he would squawk at me if I was going too slow. He also nods his head yes and says mmmm when it's something he likes that I'm giving him. Another HUGE hit has been pancakes. The other night we had chicken fajita burritos, so I cut up chicken, red peppers, and green peppers and he loved them all. I'm a little nervous to make the switch to whole milk next month from formula.... but hopefully it won't be that big a deal since breast milk went so great. Which by the way we are still mixing! Half and half and going strong. It's supposed to stay good in a deep freezer for a year. SO at the rate we are using it up vs the rate I pumped it all we should be ok to keep going mixing half breast milk with whole milk until he is about 14/15 months old. I'm just so thankful for what we have gotten to use and am so happy every time we pull a new Ziploc bag full of breast milk bags out of that freezer!
I did forget to mention last month that he had figured out how to go to a sitting position when he's crawling around. This kid is straight up mobile and into everything now. He's officially hands and knees crawling all the time, and he inches himself along while standing and holding onto things. He holds onto things and pushes them around while walking too, so who knows how soon this kid will be walking. SAD FACE!
He definitely waves his hand/arm in the air and says Hi now. It's adorable of course.
For the most part he is sleeping better finally. Usually only waking once or twice a night. Hardest part has been his wake up time in the mornings. He started waking up at 6am and then by 8:30am he's ready for a nap but I have to get Natalia and Lydia going for school and just can't snuggle him or put him down for a nap and it sucks! Or he falls asleep in the car seat while we take her to school and then I can't move him to his crib because no way in heck will he go back to sleep. When we have dance or swim it just doesn't work and I have to wake him up. Ugh. When we are just going back home we'll either find ourselves driving around for an hour so he can get a decent nap in, or sitting in the car in the garage (door open of course) and watching a movie or something. Poor Lydibug is getting the shaft sometimes in attention because we have to do that some mornings. I'm so ready for him to consistently sleep better at night so he doesn't need that morning nap anymore. Natalia stopped around 18 months, and that's when she started consistently sleeping better at night too. Lydia slept through the night early on and rarely had issues so she dropped that morning nap around 7/8 months.
When he does wake up, be it from nap/morning/middle of the night wake ups, he stands up in his crib hangs onto the edge and SCREAMS bloody murder. He knows how to sit back down but just won't. He just stands there screaming until I come in. It's so loud that I can hear him downstairs in our bedroom with my fan on without the monitor, and I can be sound asleep. I'm afraid of him waking the girls! I always make him let go and plop down to his bum before picking him up to remind him that he knows how to sit, but he still does it.
As usual fun pictures of our little guy:

Despite how hard this month was with croup and daddy being gone, no sleep, hard food changes... it's been a blast as always. He's just the cutest little dude there ever was, and we love him to pieces around these parts. The other day he was in a mood and didn't want to be put down at all. The bonus behind that was that he fell asleep on me waiting for his bottle to warm up and that was like heaven to me. He hasn't done that since he was teeny tiny and I had missed it! He has a great little giggle and we all work hard to get to hear it. As sad as I am for next month, I'm also kind of excited. We have his birthday pictures scheduled for the 28th, and I finally found a pretty darn little dashing outfit I hope.
LOVE YOU TO THE MOON AND BACK!
